The Sea of Inventions technology database has been developed from the belief that the world's intellectual property databases are a goldmine for those who use the information in them smartly and strategically. 

As of October 2012, Sea of Inventions is a part of Baltic Maritime Science Park (BMSP). BMSP contributes to the strengthening of initiatives, matching-making of players and stakeholders, as well as to connecting strategic and research-based projects with innovation partnerships and businesses. Stakeholders in public and private sectors as well as academia make up the contributors as well as target groups of BMSP.

The main venue of BMSP is their website containing discussion forums, news functions and calendars. The online venue is continuously complemented with thematic workshops and match-making events throughout the Baltic Sea Region.
