We have made an effort to provide an exhaustive coverage of the technical solutions available to the environmental problems affecting the Baltic Sea. From the action points in HELCOM's Baltic Sea Action Plan we have identified the areas where technology has a potential for reducing the negative environmental effects.

The technology available in the Sea of Inventions database has been selected because it claims to provide a solution to a specific environmental problem, the extent to which this is actually true has to be evaluated by cleantech and environmental experts. In the Sea of Inventions project, the aim has been to let patent information experts provide material to other experts for further research and development.

Different points of entry
We have sorted the technical solutions in two ways. The first is according to what environmental problem they solve: Eutrophication, Hazardous substances and Biodiversity. The second is according to what technical field they belong to: Agriculture, Fishing, Household, Industry & Infrastructure and Shipping.
